You can upgrade or downgrade your GoZen Host plan at any time from the client area. Billing is prorated, so you only pay the difference for the remainder of your billing cycle.

How to Change Your Plan

  1. Log into the GoZen client area
  2. Go to Services > My Services
  3. Click on the hosting plan you want to change
  4. Click Upgrade/Downgrade
  5. You’ll see a list of available plans with price differences
  6. Select the plan you want
  7. Review the prorated cost
  8. Confirm and pay (if upgrading) or confirm (if downgrading)

The change takes effect immediately for upgrades. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.

What Gets Prorated

When you upgrade mid-cycle, you’re credited for the unused portion of your current plan and charged for the remaining days on the new plan.

Example: You’re on a $10/month plan, 15 days into the cycle. You upgrade to a $20/month plan.

  • Credit for unused days: $10 x (15/30) = $5.00 credit
  • New plan for remaining days: $20 x (15/30) = $10.00
  • You pay: $10.00 - $5.00 = $5.00 today
  • Next month: $20.00 (full price of new plan)

Upgrading Shared Hosting

When you upgrade to a higher shared hosting tier:

  • More disk space - available immediately
  • More bandwidth - available immediately
  • More email accounts - create them in cPanel
  • More addon domains - add them in cPanel
  • Higher resource limits - CloudLinux limits increase automatically

Your files, databases, email, and settings stay exactly where they are. Nothing migrates. The server just gives your account more resources.

Downgrading Shared Hosting

Before downgrading, check that your current usage fits within the lower plan’s limits:

  • Disk space: go to cPanel > check your usage on the right sidebar
  • Addon domains: count your domains in cPanel > Domains
  • Email accounts: count accounts in cPanel > Email Accounts

If you exceed the lower plan’s limits, the downgrade will go through but you won’t be able to create new resources until you’re within limits. Existing data isn’t deleted.

Changing VPS Plans

VPS upgrades and downgrades work differently from shared hosting:

Upgrading a VPS

Upgrading a VPS adds more CPU, RAM, and disk space. Depending on the plan:

  • Some upgrades can be done live without downtime (adding RAM, CPU)
  • Disk space increases may require a brief maintenance window
  • Contact support before upgrading to confirm if downtime is needed

Downgrading a VPS

VPS downgrades are more involved because you can’t shrink a disk that has data on it. Contact support to discuss options:

  • Migrating to a smaller VPS
  • Reducing CPU/RAM while keeping disk size

Billing Cycle Changes

You can also change your billing cycle (monthly, quarterly, annually) from the client area:

  1. Go to Services > My Services
  2. Click on your plan
  3. Look for Change Billing Cycle option
  4. Select the new cycle

Longer billing cycles usually come with a discount. Switching to annual billing restarts your cycle from today.
