How to Create and Restore Backups in Enhance¶

Enhance backups are designed to let you restore a website quickly, including files, databases, and (optionally) email accounts.
Warning
Restoring a backup can delete changes made after the backup was taken. Restore with intent.
Create a manual backup¶
- Open Websites in the left sidebar.
- Select the website you want to back up.
- In the top navigation, open Advanced → Backups.
- Click Create backup.
- Add a short note (example:
Before plugin updates) and click Backup now.
Tip
If you don’t see the Create backup button, your hosting package may not allow manual backups. Contact support.
Restore a backup (Website, Email, or Custom)¶
- Open Websites → select your website.
- Go to Advanced → Backups.
- Locate the backup you want and click Restore.
- Choose the restore type: - Website: restores website files and databases (not email) - Email: restores email accounts and forwarders - Custom: choose exactly what gets restored
- Confirm and proceed.
Warning
Website restore and Email restore are intentionally separate. Choose the correct mode so you don’t overwrite what you didn’t mean to overwrite.
Best practices¶
- Take a manual backup before:
- WordPress core updates
- Plugin/theme changes
- Database migrations
- Keep at least one off-platform copy if the data is business-critical.
- Restore the same timestamp across components when troubleshooting (files and databases should match).
Troubleshooting¶
Restore completed but email passwords don’t work¶
If email was restored, some environments require resetting mailbox passwords. If you hit issues, open a ticket and we’ll resolve it quickly.
Backups section is missing¶
Your package may not include self-service backups, or backups are handled centrally. Contact GOZEN HOST support and we’ll confirm your backup policy.
The site still looks broken after restore¶
- Clear caches (WordPress cache plugin, CDN cache).
- Confirm you restored both files and database to the same point in time.
Summary¶
Create backups via Websites → (site) → Advanced → Backups. Restore carefully using Website, Email, or Custom modes depending on what you need to roll back.
