One-click WordPress installation in cPanel (Softaculous)¶

Installing WordPress at GOZEN HOST is designed to be fast and predictable. If your domain is registered elsewhere, that’s fine. As long as it points to your GOZEN HOST service, the installation works the same way.
This guide shows the recommended Softaculous settings so your site is secure from day one.
Regional Performance
WordPress sites on GOZEN HOST benefit from LiteSpeed-optimized servers in the USA and Europe, delivering TTFB under 200ms for regional visitors.
Before you start¶
You need¶
- Access to your cPanel (from your GOZEN HOST Welcome Email).
- A domain or subdomain you want to install WordPress on.
Recommended (strongly)¶
- Your domain is already pointing to GOZEN HOST.
If not, start here: Point your domain to GOZEN HOST
Using a third-party registrar?
You do not need to transfer your domain to install WordPress. You only need the domain pointed to your GOZEN HOST server or nameservers.
Step-by-step: Install WordPress with Softaculous¶
- Log in to cPanel.
- Go to Softaculous Apps Installer (sometimes shown as “Softaculous”).
- Click WordPress.
- Click Install Now.
- Configure these key fields:
Software setup¶
- Choose Protocol: Select
https://(recommended). - Choose Domain: Pick your target domain (example:
example.com). - In Directory: Leave blank to install on the root domain.
Example: - Blank →
https://example.com blog→https://example.com/blog
Avoid reinstalling over an existing site
If the directory already contains files, Softaculous may fail or overwrite content. Use a clean directory or create a new subdomain.
Site settings¶
- Site Name / Description: You can change these later in WordPress.
Admin account (do this properly)¶
- Admin Username: Do not use
admin. - Admin Password: Use a strong password (12+ characters).
- Admin Email: Use a real inbox you control.
Security baseline
A strong admin user and password is the cheapest security win you’ll ever get. Most WordPress compromises start with weak credentials.
Advanced options (recommended defaults)¶
- Auto Upgrade WordPress: On
- Auto Upgrade Plugins/Themes: Optional
Good for simple sites. For WooCommerce, upgrade with caution.
- Click Install.
- When the install completes, Softaculous will show:
- Your site URL
- Your admin URL (usuallyhttps://example.com/wp-admin)
After installation: quick best practices¶
1) Confirm SSL is active¶
Open your site and confirm it loads as https://.
If you see http://, either:
- SSL isn’t issued yet, or
- You selected the wrong protocol during installation.
2) Update immediately¶
In WordPress: - Go to Dashboard → Updates - Update WordPress core, plugins, and themes.
3) Install only what you need¶
Fewer plugins equals fewer problems. Every plugin is a supply chain decision.
Common issues and fixes¶
Softaculous does not show https:// as an option¶
Cause: SSL isn’t active for the domain yet.
Fix:
- Issue SSL first (AutoSSL/Let’s Encrypt depending on the service)
- Wait a few minutes and refresh Softaculous
“Installation failed” or “directory not empty”¶
Cause: The target directory already has files.
Fix:
- Install on a clean path
- Or delete/rename the existing files in File Manager (only if you are sure they are not needed)
The domain opens the old website after install¶
Cause: DNS propagation or caching.
Fix:
- Open in incognito
- Try mobile data
- Wait for propagation if you just changed DNS
wp-admin login fails¶
Fix checklist:
- Confirm you’re using the exact admin username you set in Softaculous
- Reset the password from the WordPress “Lost your password?” link
- If needed, reset via database (advanced). We can document this in a separate article.
